¡Hola! I wanted to share that I'll be in Barcelona for 3 weeks in January! For 22 hours a week, I'll be learning the Margolis Method approach to acting from Kari Margolis herself. In between all that training, I'll be exploring Spain, practicing my Spanish, and partying hard with Europeans. I have never been outside of the US, so this is a big deal for me! While I know this trip is approaching, it won't feel real until I get there. I promise to write a long post about it when I get back about what the training was like and what I loved most.

Hey Blog, I went on my first commercial audition and it was an experience!
My instructions were: 1) Improv a conversation with the girl next to you 2) take a bite of the tortilla 3) completely overreact to how delicious it is. 4) ACTION!…. Nope! Not what we were looking for. So yeah, that happened. I took too big a bite and was like YAAAAAAS! Never fear, because the next weekend I attended a commercial workshop with Carol Hickey and that woman is a GOD. If you’re an actor in Austin, you HAVE to take a class with her. She knows her stuff! I know I could trust her, because she’s booked like a kajillion commercials. I’m definitely (more) ready for that next commercial audition. She talked a lot abut being relatable and being yourself. It would be so totally amazing to book a commercial, because they shoot for like a day and pay pretty well and who wouldn't want to be that relatable chick selling you cell phone plans? I could be that chick! Let me talk you into a phone plan! HIRE ME!!! So much has happened and I’ve been working so much that I have forgotten to update my blog. So here it is!
As you can see from my website, I got some new head shots. Also, I got signed with my first ever talent agent! My agency is awesome and I’m getting all sorts of casting notifications and workshop recommendations! Also exciting news is that I was cast as Joan in a production of “Melancholy Play” by Sarah Ruhl (who I love). This semester I’m taking three acting classes, which I’m super thrilled about. It's pretty rad! I'm taking Comedy Acting, Acting III (doing Waiting for Lefty and Proof scenes), and Acting and the Camera- we're collaborating with grad film students to make films. Anyways, that's what I've been up to! I'm so grateful for the support I've had leading up to my Senior Year in Undergrad. My parents, professors, friends, and acting teachers have inspired me to get to this point. :') |
